21st Century Griot: Discovering Our Ancestory
Sunday, February 26
2:00 - 5:00 pm

What do you know about your ancestors? Join us as Dr. Edna Briggs shares her considerable knowledge of genealogy and family history research. Dr. Briggs's educational session will teach you the basic tools to research your family history and to perhaps become your family's 21st century griot.

This entertaining and educational genealogy program will feature Richard Allen Collins Diggs, a 21st century griot, presenting "From the Darkness to the Light," a poetic rendition of his family's history.

After discovering the family's 150-year-old Bible and conducting countless hours of research, Mr. Diggs, in the tradition of African griots, recites an oral history of six generations of the Collins family.
